The much awaited start for Diego Costa to feature for Spain in the upcoming friendlies was brought to a halt earlier this day as the forward got injured.

But the official replacement for the in-form Brazil born Atletico Madrid striker has just been announced. Costa has been replaced by the Juventus striker Fernando Llorente after an impressive few weeks.

Llorente, who returned to the limelight after scoring two goals in two games against the Real Madrid in the Champions League and has continued his good form in the Serie A as well.

Earlier, Michu was injured too but theres no worry for La Rojas as they have plenty of back up in the forwards department.

Meanwhile, Cesc Fàbregas underwent tests on his right knee this morning, having suffered discomfort in the joint during the game against Betis and has been replaced by fellow Barcelona defender Marc Bartra.

Spain will play the friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.
