Chelsea are considering a January move for AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, according to reports in the Mirror.
Falcao, 27, only joined Monaco in the summer but that won’t stop Jose Mourinho trying to lure him away from France as the Chelsea manager looks for a new goalscorer.
However, the Blues may struggle to match the Monaco striker's reported €14 million after tax salary, which works out to around €270,000 per week, with more stringent tax rates in England.
Colombian Falcao joined Monaco from Atletico Madrid, where he scored 70 goals in 91 games, for a fee reportedly as high as €60million.
There was speculation linking the forward to Chelsea then, but Falcao chose the tax haven of Monaco.
Although, the Blues are showing more solid interest now.
Jose Mourinho is watching Falcao in action for Colombia against Belgium on Thursday as he considers making a £60million bid, a British record.
The Chelsea manager looked at both Wayne Rooney and Robert Lewandowski over the summer, but settled for Samuel Eto'o.
So Mourinho is now renewing his interest in bringing one of the world's leading strikers to Stamford Bridge, and Falcao fits the bill.
