Gennaro Gattuso is set for a ‘mini-internship’ at some of the best clubs in Europe as he looks to improve his coaching credentials – with Arsenal and Real Madrid two of the parties involved.

The former Italian international built up a reputation as a football hardman during his 18-year professional career, and has subsequently held short-term positions in management at FC Sion and Palermo.

However, the 35-year-old is look to expand his knowledge with spells at various places across the continent, and both the Emirates Stadium and Santiago Bernabeu are on the list of destinations.

“I’m going on a mini-internship at Real Madrid, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund and I’ll also be meeting [Belgium international coach] Marc Wilmots,” he told So Foot magazine.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has built up a reputation as one of the best coaches in world football during his 17-year stint in north London.

And, the Gunners will offer Gattuso a fantastic opportunity by letting the former defensive midfielder see how they develop their players at London Colney.

The club are renowned for bringing top young talent through to the Arsenal first team, and it’s sure to be an incredible opportunity for him.

A spell at Real Madrid will be similarly beneficial, although the La Liga giants do things a little differently to their English rivals.

Los Blancos are renowned for spending big money to bring players to the club, with Gareth Bale the latest addition in the Spanish capital.

However, they have a top coach in Carlo Ancelotti, and a club the size of Real Madrid will certainly be able to teach Gattuso plenty.
