With the Premier League more competitive than ever this season a new band of stars have staked their claim to be considered among the division's elite with consistent performances.

Alongside the familiar predatory instincts of Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez the early weeks of the campaign have featured fantasy football managers clamouring to select new names at the top of their team-sheets.

Aaron Ramsey is a prime example of this surprise shift in stance early in the campaign, producing impressive displays on a regular basis to confound critics and win a new legion of admirers, not just restricted to the Gunners fans who were once undecided over his ability to perform at the Emirates.

Ramsey is far from alone in providing unlikely highlights in an unpredictable opening to the 2013-14 campaign, with British youngsters a welcome theme in the GMS list of five players who have taken the top flight by storm in the Premier League's first 12 matches.
