Malaga stars Willy Caballero and Sergi Darder will not be sold in January unless their release clauses are met, according to Sky Sports.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been linked with a raid on his former club, targeting Argentinian goalkeeper Caballero after Joe Hart's below par performances this season.
City's next Premier League opponents Tottenham have also been linked with a Los Boquerones player, reportedly chasing 19 year-old midfielder Sergi Darder in the winter transfer window.
However, Malaga's director general Vicente Casado claims the only chance either player will be sold in January is if their release clauses are triggered.
32 year-old 'keeper Caballero was a regular under Pellegrini, but unless City are willing to stump up the £16.9million required to activate his clause, he will not be reunited with his former boss.
Spurs would have to pay even more to secure their man, with Darder only signing a new contract at Malaga last week which bumped his release clause up to £33.8million, meaning Tottenham would have to break their transfer record in order to sign the inexperienced Spaniard.
The Citizens are one point behind title rivals Spurs and will be focused on getting all three points in their clash at the Etihad Stadium on November 24 or risk being left with a steep hill to climb in their quest for a second title in three years.
