It's turning out to be quite the nightmare start to the season for Milwaukee Bucks star Larry Sanders.
First off the news broke that he was involved in a nightclub altercation earlier on this month, which ultimately led to the NBA star needing surgery to repair a ligament in his thumb.
This of course was following reports that he was dismayed about his lack of on-court minutes so far this campaign, a point surely not to be helped by the fact that he is now having to sit out for up to six weeks in action whilst he recovers from his injury.
And now news has broke that in January the power-forward received two citations for breaching animal cruelty laws after leaving his two German shepherd puppies outside in the cold.
According to police reports the animals: "were in harm and needed to be removed."
It is believed that the dogs were stuck in the back garden with no food, water or shelter, and exposed to low temperatures which prompted a neighbour to call the authorities.
It's unlikely that his start to the year can get any worse, but Sanders will surely be hoping it gets a lot better soon.
