Premier League and Championship clubs enter the third round of the FA Cup in January, but qualifying for the world's oldest domestic competition actually begins way back in August.

Clubs still in the competition are now one match away from a potential money-spinning tie at Old Trafford or Anfield, and BT Sport have announced the two fixtures they will be airing in the second round of the competition.

New Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough will be keen to guide his under-performing side to victory on Sunday, 8th December, as they take on either Bury or Cambridge United.

Cambridge are in excellent form and sit at the top of the Conference, whilst Bury are just above the relegation zone in League Two. Both sides will be hopeful of an upset if they progress however, as the Blades are struggling in League One, currently just one place above the bottom.

And the next day BT Sport will show a Monday night clash taking place in north Wales, where Wrexham will host either Oxford United or Gateshead.

The Welsh side had an excellent campaign last time out, winning the FA Trophy and narrowly missing out on promotion into league football, losing to Newport County in the play-off final. They will be looking for more cup success this season, and of course have a history of FA Cup giant-killing.

Whoever their opponents turn out to be will have something to say about that however, with Oxford doing well in League Two and Gateshead pushing Wrexham close in a 3-2 league defeat at the Racecourse Ground in the week.

A big third round tie can provide much needed financial stability to lower level clubs, who will be doing their utmost to put their name in the hat for the next round.

BT Sport will broadcast up to 25 live FA Cup games this season, including the final from Wembley in May.
