Arsenal Olivier Giroud has started this season very well, scoring seven and assisting five in all competitions.
Despite not being the best goalscoring record, he has became one of Arsenal's most important players; he wins aerial duels, is a threat from set-pieces and holds up the ball extremely well.
Arsenal's chief executive Ivan Gazidis hinted that they need an additional striker as he believes Giroud will not be able to cope with a whole season alone.
My question is: Do Arsenal really need to buy one?
Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski can both occupy the Arsenal striker role and are both very capable of doing so.
Arsenal have scored 34 goals already this season, so goal-scoring is definitely not their problem.
Arsenal played Marco Reus, Robert Lewandowski, Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge all in one week and conceded only one goal, so can also certainly defend against the 'big teams'.
The Gunners also posses a very quality midfield with the additions of Mathieu Flamini and Mesut Ozil, Arsenal now have one of, if not the best, midfield in the league. In addition, Aaron Ramsey is playing outstanding football and Jack Wilshere is working as hard as ever.
Wojciech Szczesny has also really secured his place in the team now after an indifferent season last year.
So what do Arsenal really need?
Well Arsenal still need to offer Bacary Sagna and Tomas Rosicky a new deal, as their current deals both run out at the end of the season, and are both still certainly capable of playing for the north London club.
They also need to get rid of Bendtner, as he is not wanted and most likely does not want to be at the club.
Other than this I suppose a marquee summer signing wouldn't do any harm, but at the moment, may be unnecessary.
