AC Milan forward Robson de Souza, popularly known as Robinho, has expressed his delight at being called-up into the Brazil national team.
Accordingly, he is very desperate to make the most of his ‘surprise’ call-up for the Samba group.
Robinho, 29, who last appeared for the Selecao in August 2011, where he netted in a 3-2 defeat to Germany, was recently recalled by the national coach Luiz Filipe Scolari.
And now Robinho seem focused on retaining his place in the squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
“There are few games before the World Cup, which is my ultimate goal,” he told reporters.
“I do not know if this will be my last World Cup, but I will strive to make sure I am in the squad. Brazil has always been my goal and always will be.”
Moreover, Scolari, who featured the star as a number nine in Tuesday’s training session, had this to say about him.
''He can play as the false No. 9, or on the [right] or [left],'' said Scolari in a press confernece upon announcing Robinho’s return to the squad.
“He has played in two World Cups. It's important at this time to give him the opportunity and see how he's going to fit in and show the spirit we want.”
The former Santos player also revealed that his son will be happy to see him play alongside Neymar.
“It was very exciting to be called up," Robinho said.
"First I spoke with my wife, then with my son who said ‘Dad, you will play with Neymar’.”
Brazil will play Honduras in Miami on Saturday and face Chile in Toronto on November 19.
