The BBC have announced the shortlist for the 2013 BBC African Footballer of the Year award, with the winner set to be announced in December.
Three of the five nominees are currently plying their trades in the Premier League, with the remaining two subject to Premier League interest in the past.
Manchester City's Yaya Toure has made the list for the fifth year running, and is joined by fellow Premier League stars, Victor Moses (on loan at Liverpool from Chelsea) and John Obi Mikel (Chelsea).
The remaining two nominees haven't played in the Premier League, but both have been targeted by top-flight English sides in the past.
Jonathan Pitroipa has reportedly been subject to interest from Everton in the past and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reportedly turned down a move to Newcastle United in favour of a summer switch to Borussia Dortmund.
With the African World Cup qualifiers taking place this week and next, we will look at five players we expect to feature in the Premier League at some point in the future, and possibly be in contention for the BBC African Footballer of the Year award at some point in their career.
