Manchester United winger Nani has announced that he is completely focused on his country's decisive World Cup qualification play-off fixture against Sweden on Friday night.
Paulo Bento's Portugal side only finished second in Group F after gaining 21 points from their 10 matches, finishing just a point behind group leaders Russia. They are now set to play Sweden in what is a mouth-watering World Cup playoff, with the winner over two legs booking a spot at the 2014 tournament in Brazil.
The former Sporting Lisbon winger is backing his country to give it everything they have in their pursuit of World Cup glory and insisted that his team desperately want to go to the competition.
“I am focused on the match," Nani told Manchester United's official website.
“We know it is a very important game for us, we want to be in the World Cup.
“We will see what happens, we will do our best in both games and try to win.”
Nani has managed to convert 14 goals in 70 appearances for his country after making his debut back in 2006.
The player did captain his country in October in their victory over Luxembourg but isn't expected to fulfil the same duty tomorrow evening
The result from the two-legged affair with the Swedes means that either Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Cristiano Ronaldo will not be present at next year's World Cup.
