The Los Angeles Clippers' eventful 111-103 victory over Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday evening was marred by a fiery mid-game scuffle that resulted in two players being ejected from the game.
With just six seconds remaining in the first half - with the scores close at 58-52 - at Staples Center, Clippers power forward Blake Griffin rose high in order to claim an offensive rebound from a botched Chris Paul finger roll.
Spanish counterpart Serge Ibaka challenged Griffin as he went up to slam the ball home, with the two becoming tangled in unnecessarily hostile fashion.
What seemed like an innocent coming together soon erupted into something altogether more sinister, however, with Griffin's teammate Matt Barnes - a player renowned for his short fuse - evidently taking exception to Ibaka's stern defence.
Barnes proceded to shove Ibaka hard, before all hell broke loose with every player scrambling to get involved in the subsequent melee.
Needless to say Ibaka and Barnes were both removed from play and Griffin can perhaps consider himself slightly fortunate to have escaped with a technical foul.
