Arsenal have been given the green light to make a January move for Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate, reports the Metro.
Belgium side Anderlecht are said to be willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old Senegal international, which has boosted the chances of Arsene Wenger's side signing the defender.
The 64-year-old Frenchman has reportedly tried to sign the defender, who can also play in midfield, on two previous occasions but was rebuffed due to Anderlecht's reluctance to sell their star defender.
However it now looks like Wenger could finally land his man, as Anderlecht boss Herman Van Holsbeeck has revealed that his side are willing to cash in on Kouyate if a suitable offer comes in for him.
Premier League trio Chelsea, West Brom and Norwich have all been linked with the £6m-rated defender in the past, but it appears that Arsenal are leading the race for the defender.
Wenger is said to be desperate to land a defender in January, as Thomas Vermaelen could leave the Gunners in the new year.
