The Romanista-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport has claimed that Lazio will join rivals Roma and Premier League outfit Newcastle United in a winter bidding war to secure the services of current Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis.
With German international striker Miroslav Klose in absence for up to three weeks due to a shoulder injury sustained in the recent 1-1 draw against Parma, forcing him out of Germany's upcoming friendly at the San Siro where they will face Cesare Prandelli's Italy, it is no surprise that Vladimir Petkovic & Lazio are weighing up their options.
In the summer Gomis was very much is hot pursuit, with Newcastle having agreed a supposed €9m move for the French international to arrive on Tyneside, this however failed despite claims personal terms had been agreed.
At the time Gomis was also being linked with Fiorentina, but it has now emerged that Roma are one of the main contenders along with Newcastle for the €3m valued forward.
It is believed that Lazio will lodge a €2m bid, and with Gomis' contract expiring next summer, it's yet to be though just how strong Lyon's resistance will be.
Gomis who is yet to sign a contract extension, has publicly threatened to leave for nothing when his contract is up.
His future with Lyon is in doubt with him being left behind in several of the clubs early-season games, although in most recent times he has since been brought back in the fold and has scored three goals in nine games.
