England manager Roy Hodgson shed light on the goalkeeping saga surrounding Joe Hart this week.
After being dropped by Manchester City after a string of costly mistakes, Hodgson threw his weight behind the shot-stopper saying that he remains England number one.
However, in the interest of developing some competition, Hodgson said that if Hart wasn't City number one by March, then he risks not being the first-choice 'keeper when England head for Brazil next summer.
With Celtic star Fraser Forster having the best season of his career, should Hodgson simply discard Hart to the bench as Manuel Pellegrini has done?
Forster has been very impressive this season, with strong performances against Barcelona and AC Milan in the Champions League. There is no doubt, therefore, that he is frontrunner to challenge Hart for the England position.
Where normally, defence and goalkeeper requires consistency, because of how rarely the England team plays or trains, it seems there would be little issue having the in-form Forster starting both friendlies over the international break.
Hodgson will certainly be taking inspiration from Spain head coach Vicente Del Bosque after he chose to drop Iker Casillas to the bench in favour of Barcelona 'keeper Victor Valdes.
While Casillas has watched from the Madrid bench, Victor Valdes has ensured that Barcelona have a fantastic defensive record this season.
Although it is too early to think about which 'keeper will start at the World Cup next year (for either England or Spain) it is worth noting that Hodgson will be using the next few friendlies as a chance to settle on his star players.
