Arsenal are two points ahead at the top of the league after 11 games, which inevitably begs the question: Can they win the Premier League?

On their first game of the season, Arsenal lost 3-1 to Aston Villa at home.

However, since the arrival of former Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Özil, the whole team has been lifted.

Firstly, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have formed a strong partnership at the back, which Arsenal severely lacked last season and a strong defensive partnership is vital to a top division side.

Secondly, Olivier Giroud has netted five goals this season thus far and has provided the form of a striker who can win them games.

However, Arsenal's greatest performer this season has been Aaron Ramsey. the Welshman has been unstoppable scoring six goals this season, which is a huge improvement from his one goal in 36 appearances last season.

The reason for this huge lift must be down to Özil.

After the loss to Aston Villa many fans were rightly displaying posters begging the club to invest in quality players.

Wenger responded terrifically by smashing their previous transfer record with the £42.5million transfer of Özil.

As a result, the fans were behind the club and all their players grew in confidence and performed, as opposed to their fans saying that they lacked quality in their squad.

However, does that mean they win the league?

In my opinion I don't think so for multiple reasons.

Firstly, if they suffer an injury in some areas they will be in serious trouble.

If either Mertesacker or Koscielny get injured they have no viable replacement, Thomas Vermaelen could possibly fill in, however, he has shown he is prone to mistakes and could take a while to find top flight form again.

Also, if Giroud gets injured or tired, which is looking likely after playing 23 games this season for club and country, looking especially tired against Manchester United.

His replacement may have to be Nicklas Bendtner, who has failed to score a goal in the league in two seasons.

Theo Walcott has also declared his ambition to play up front, however, he can be inconsistent and his end product has been questioned multiple times.

Arsenal simply don't have the depth in some key area's and where they to suffer injuries in those area's they could find themselves in a bad situation.

Also, the Gunners have had a fairly easy start to the season.

Having to only face Tottenham, Liverpool and United so far, and they have got a very hard run of games coming up such as City and Southampton who have proved they are certainly no push overs and will contending for Europe this season.

However, Arsenal have done well to get the wins as the Premier League never provides easy games.

Overall, Arsenal are in good form currently however they have very hard games coming up and simply don't have the full depth required to win the Premier League, United had Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

Manchester City had Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Sergio Aguero, who are all quality players who win you the league and Arsenal simply don't have those quality players who can carry the team to victory when others aren't at their best.
