Premier League champions Manchester United are keen to sign Dundee United starlet Ryan Gauld, who has been dubbed the 'mini Messi', according to the Sunday Mirror.
The 17-year-old has earned comparisons with Barcelona star Lionel Messi thanks to his exciting dribbling ability and diminutive stature.
Gauld stands at just 5ft 5in tall – shorter than Messi, incidentally – but that has not stopped the likes of Real Madrid and now Manchester United from taking a closer look at the most exciting young talent to have emerged from Scotland for years.
United boss David Moyes sent first-team coach Jimmy Lumsden to watch Gauld make his Scotland Under-21 debut against Georgia last week, while scouts from several Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Everton were also in attendance.
The Red Devils would reportedly need to stump up £5m for the attacking midfielder – a fee which could look a bargain in the future if he fulfils his immense potential.
