Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is one of the latest withdrawals from the German squad ahead of Tuesday’s mouth-watering clash with England.

German coach Joachim Low will be without a number of first-team regulars for their visit to Wembley in two-days time, after Ozil, and Bayern Munich duo Philipp Lahm and Manuel Neuer all pulled out from the squad.

The trio will join central midfielder Sami Khedira on the sideline after the Real Madrid star ruptured ligaments in his knee on Friday during Germany’s 1-1 draw with Italy, which will keep him sidelined for number of months.

Low has chosen to rest all three players, with the Bayern duo heading back to Germany to prepare for their upcoming fixture with Borussia Dortmund.

Ozil meanwhile will return to London as a spectator, with the German boss keen to give other members of his squad the chance to impress.

"The England game is our last chance before the World Cup to try out one or two new tactical variations and personnel," said the Germany coach.

"Philipp Lahm, Manuel Neuer and Mesut Ozil are part of the absolute backbone of our team and for me, it is more important now to give other players a chance to prove themselves in these key positions, particularly against such a strong team as England."

Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller is expected to get the nod in goal, returning to the ground where his club lost the Champions League final in May, with Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker returning to the squad after illness.
