Paul Scholes

There was a point when around Paul Scholes cutting short his retirement when no Premier League presenter or commentator in England could go without saying how incredible it was that he was still going.

Scholes was famous for his poor tackling and he was loved so much, that people would just chuckle about it - no ordinary personality could get away with that.

He lived a quiet life out of the spotlight compared to some of his more glamorous and amorous teammates, and was one of the greatest players to have played in the Premier League - Manchester United are still having trouble replacing him.

Scholes even went to play five-a-side for his mates' team, scoring 12 goals in a 16-4 win - before then resigning for Manchester United.
