Spanish giants Real Madrid are set to abandon their pursuit of Luis Suarez and instead turn to Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to the Daily Star.

Los Blancos were expected to make a bid for Uruguayan Suarez once the January transfer window opens, but instead they will turn to City's hot-shot forward Kun Aguero.

President Florentino Perez has held a meeting with Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane and decided Aguero will be a better fit at the Bernabeu and are preparing a massive £45million bid for the Argentinian.

Aguero signed a new contract with City to keep him at Eastlands until 2017 back in May, when news of Madrid’s interest was intensifying.

But sources in Spain claim that deal contains a break clause, forcing City to study any offer they receive from either Real or Barcelona.

This could spark a transfer war between Barcelona and Real, as Aguero would be able to team up with his friend Lionel Messi at Camp Nou.

City have no intention to sell Aguero, who is currently in sensational form, scoring nine times in his last seven outings.

The Citizens have bought him two summers ago for £38m from Atletico Madrid and if they are going to sell Aguero, they will demand for at least £50m.
