Borussia Dortmund hope to beat Arsenal to the signature of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko in January, according to the Daily Star.
The 27-year-old Bosnia international continues to be heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium in January, as he plays second-fiddle to first-choice pairing Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been credited with an interest in bringing Dzeko to the Emirates Stadium, as he looks to provide competition for Olivier Giroud at the focal point of his attack.
However, Arsenal will now face serious competition from Dortmund, after Jurgen Klopp identified the Manchester City star as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski at Signal Iduna Park.
It's not yet clear whether Manuel Pellegrini would be willing to part with a player that cost City £27million almost three years ago.
But, with just 18 months remaining on his current contract, a fee of £18million is being touted as enough for Arsenal or Dortmund to clinch a deal for Dzeko in January.
