Plenty has been written about the Sachin Tendulkar over the past few days and rightly so; perhaps the greatest batsman the world has ever seen bade farewell to cricket on a tidal wave of tears and well-wishes having played in his 200th and final test match against the West Indies on Friday.
Typically understated throughout as applause met his every move, the 'Little Master" gave a moving speech after the game at the Wankhende Stadium, which India won while the great man himself fell just short of reaching 16,000 test runs and the perfect ending to an almost perfect career which includes 100 international centuries.
Having thanked various people for helping him throughout his career, Tendulkar concluded: "I know I have met so many guys who have fasted for me, prayed for me, done so much for me. Without that life wouldn't have been like this for me.
"I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, and also say that time has flown by rather quickly, but the memories you have left with me will always be with me forever and ever, especially "Sachin, Sachin" which will reverberate in my ears till I stop breathing. Thank you very much. If I have missed out on saying something, I hope you understand. Goodbye."
With that, there is little more to be said. So rather than clogging up the internet further with a thousand words of praise, here are the best images of a truly remarkable man's career.
