The name Mark Armitage won't mean much to most people, but his two-ball cricket innings is sure to go down in the game's annals of time.

Rather than departing with a bang or a statement of intent during his brief spell at the crease, the amateur found himself and in discomfort not once but twice before heading back to the hutch.

The Eastwood CC 'star' was clearly out of his depth when he arrived to take his mark, with the square-leg umpire clearly sensing something was about to be up for the batsman as he took out his phone to record the action.

Ball one struck exactly where you don't want to be hit, and you can only presume that Armitage was well-protected downstairs by his ability to get up so quickly.

He should have stayed down though, because ball two didn't go much better. He took it flush on the chest whilst swinging for the hills once again, only this time the force swung him round 180 degrees and he clattered into his own stumps with the bat.

Walking off to a mixture of applause and laughter, this village player's moment in the spotlight was over. Until it became a viral internet hit of course.

And, on the eve of the next Ashes series, we felt it right to bring this epic piece of non-batting to the GiveMeSport audience.

So, sit back, and enjoy the next 90 seconds...
