Napoli manager Rafael Benitez is lining up a January move for Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa, according to talkSPORT.
The former Liverpool manager was in charge of the Reds during Arbeloa's two-year spell on Merseyside before moving to Madrid in 2009.
Now, Benitez wants to acquire the Spaniard's services in January.
Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has told Benitez that he can sign three more players when the window opens on January 1 - to add to the arrivals of Gonzalo Higuain, Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon from the Spanish capital over the summer months.
Arbeloa's made 116 appearances for the Santiago Bernabeu outfit since he signed from Liverpool four years ago, scoring two goals.
The defender can play in either the full-back or centre-back position, an area Benitez is keen to strengthen.
However, he will have to persuade his former player that Naples is the right place for him as Arbeloa still has two and a half years left on his contract in Spain, and is apparently content with life at the world's richest club.
