Arsenal and Liverpool face competition from Italian giants Roma for the signing of Javier Pastore, according to The Daily Star

Pastore, who is struggling to secure first team football at Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

It was thought that Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool were ready to go head-to-head for the player's signature, however now Serie A giants Roma have entered the race.

The Argentine international is desperate to secure his spot in Argentina's 2014 World Cup plans and now looks ready to leave the French outfit.

It was reported that Arsene Wenger made a swoop for the attacking-midfield star on last summer's transfer deadline day, and now the Gunners boss may make another move for him in January.

However with Liverpool and Roma also ready to pounce for the star, Pastore's long term future is far from certain.

Arsenal and Liverpool have made great starts to the Premier League campaign and both the Emirates and Anfield outfits will hope Pastore can help them further build on their impressive squads.
