Wes Welker suffered concussion as the Denver Broncos beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-17 on Sunday night, reports ESPN.

The incident took place as the wide receiver was on a 20-yard catch-and-run play in the fourth quarter of the match.

Welker consequently left the field of play after the hit and now looks set to miss the Broncos' clash with his former side, the New England Patriots on Sunday evening.

However as the the Broncos go head-to-head with the Kansas City Chiefs once again in a fortnight, Welker will come up against the side that targeted him 10 times on Sunday evening.

The Denver Broncos will be hoping to continue their winning run as they currently sit top of the AFC Western Division.

Their victory over the Chiefd was their third in succession after wins against the Chargers and the Redskins in their previous outings. Their attentions will now turn to the Patriots.
