Paris Saint-Germain will offer Chelsea £40m for Juan Mata's services, according to reports in France.
The French Newspaper Le 10 Sport also claims the French outfit were close to acquiring his signature during the last transfer window, but are now willing to come back in with a better offer this winter.
The Spanish playmaker has struggled to cement his place in the Blues' starting XI since Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge this summer, despite being their best player during 2012/13, helping them win the Europa League a year after they conquered the Champions League.
He has since been ousted by Oscar in Mourinho's team, with the Portuguese manager preferring the Brazilian in the midfield.
The Spanish star is simply too good to be left on the bench week-in, week-out and might look to France for an escape route.
Since being taken over in August 2011, the French side have grown in stature, winning Ligue 1 while at the same time becoming genuine contenders for the illustrious Champions League. They were knocked out of last year's competition on away goals to Barcelona.
With Mata looking increasingly out of favour in west London - he's only started five league games this term - moving south may seem like an attractive proposition to the former Valencia star.
The three-times Premier League champions could double their money on Mata, which could potentially be used to fund a move for Monaco's Radamel Falcao. Mourinho watched the Colombian in action against Belgium last week.
