J.R. Smith's younger brother, Chris Smith, has been sent out to the D-League to ply his trade at the Erie BayHawks, reports ESPN

The New York Knicks had placed Chris Smith on their 15-man roster and have now assigned him to their D-League affiliate.

The inclusion of J.R. Smith's younger brother on the roster at the Knicks had caused much debate between fans and players.

J.R. Smith was involved in a war of words with Detroit Pistons guard, Brandon Jennings, after the star slammed the Knicks' decision to include Chris Smith on their roster.

Chris Smith is yet to feature for the Knicks and will now be hoping for game time in the D-League.

With Smith now having joined the Erie BayHawks, The New York Knicks will now be hoping to improve on their poor start to the season.

They now host the Detroit Pistons as they look to get back to winning ways after two straight defeats.
