Cristiano Ronaldo outplays Zlatan Ibrahimovic in World Cup playoff

It was billed as a clash of the titans.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Sweden against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in a winner takes all World Cup play-off.

Ronaldo had drawn first blood in the first leg, scoring the only goal in a tight game to give Portugal the advantage in Lisbon.

The game came to life in Stokholm on Tuesday night, however, as the pair exchanged blow after blow before Ronaldo came up trumps.

After Ronaldo opened the scoring, Ibrahimovic hit back with a quick fire double to leave the tie equal on aggregate but with Portugal leading on away goals.

With Sweden driving forward for the winner, Ronaldo broke away to make it 2-2 on the night and 3-2 overall before sealing the win and his hat-trick in the closing minutes.

Out of the five goals scored over two games, only the two juggernauts of football scored.
