Amar'e Stoudemire: The worst defensive play ever?

What was he doing? Stoudemire was looking away from Peyton Siva when he was holding the ball.

I'm unsure about this defensive strategy, but it seemed to work as Siva was called for a travel. So here's what happened.

Stoudemire was caught on a mismatch and was forced to guard young point guard Siva. The ball was given to Siva and I'm assuming that Stoudemire was thinking Siva was going to shoot, but he didn't. He made Stoudemire look stupid but couldn't finish the play.

The Knicks have had a rough start and paying over $20m for a man who can't play defense may be the problem. Could be time for a trade then. They have been looking at Rajon Rondo, but he doesn't exactly defend the same position.
