Chelsea midfielder Oscar has been selected ‘to save the human race’ as part of the Galaxy XI.
The Brazilian international playmaker joins captain Lionel Messi and Germany star Mario Gotze in the team, as Samsung continue to unveil players as part of their quite extraordinary publicity stunt.
It’s no surprise to see a Chelsea player selected on the team, given that the electronics powerhouse sponsors the club from west London.
However, the choice of Oscar is a nod to the player’s performances at Stamford Bridge in recent times, with the 22-year-old becoming an influential figure for the Blues under manager Jose Mourinho.
And, he appears happy to play along with this over-the-top advertising, revealing he’s ready to face the aliens as part of Franz Beckenbauer's all-star team.
“Happy & thankful to have been selected to fight with #GALAXY11! Ready to save the human race and have fun in space,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
If Oscar can get away from saving the world at weekends, that would sit well with Chelsea fans as they continue to challenge for the Premier League title.
Mourinho's side currently sit fourth in the English top flight, and are four points off top spot. The Galaxy XI have no league position, but could be playing for the safety of the universe.
