Arsenal fans have been given reason for excitement today by the return of a club legend, with Thierry Henry back at the club's London Colney training ground this morning for training.

Henry has decided to keep up his fitness levels during the Major League Soccer off-season, but will only be training with Arsenal rather than making another sensational loan switch.

The club's all-time record goalscorer with 224 strikes was pictured taking part in a session with Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal and Emmanuel Frimpong this morning, all smiles in familiar surroundings.

Gunners fans will have fond memories of Henry's eight-year spell at the Emirates, which led to Arsenal erecting a statue of the French legend outside the Emirates Stadium.

Henry has previously turned a training stint into a short-term loan switch in 2012, but the club's official website has been quick to dampen rumours of a repeat this season with the message: "Welcome back Thierry… even if it is only temporary."

At the age of 36 Henry has continued to find the back of the net in MLS, scoring 10 times last season for the New York Red Bulls.
