Theo Walcott has been a growing star in the Arsenal camp over recent years.
But now, Theo faces a tough challenge. After recovering from a recent injury, can he pick up his great run of form from last season?
Big performances mean high expectations, but a set-back can easily turn your career upside down. Any injury can be a confidence blow for a player, but usually that isn’t enough to stop a player of Walcott’s calibre. However a new face in the camp, young players reaching their highest moments in their careers, and the big guns performing game after game, Theo is going to find a battle on his hands.
Arsenal have transformed into something they haven’t been for years- title contenders. This is without doubt, all thanks to Santi Cazorla’s quick feet, Giroud’s firepower, Mesut Ozil’s trickery, Wilshere’s passion and Ramey’s top form. As it stands, these players don’t look to drop form any time soon, and with them all playing in the positions Walcott is able to play his
best football, how will he find his way back into the starting 11?
Theo has pace, speed, experience and vision. He’s clearly a massive part in the Arsenal’s midfield. However, no matter how much of a star you have proved to be, it is difficult to get yourself back to your old ways and take out those players who seem to be at their very best on the field.
Wenger has plenty of options at his disposal, and even has the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlin and Lukas Podolski still out of action. But who does he choose? Only the players can determine how many times he chooses them. Of course Walcott will be used on many occasions by Wenger, but the contrast to how many games he plays this season in comparison to last season, may be significant.
He will surely wish to play every game, but an injury set-back has already stopped that from happening. The injury has also allowed other big names to take their turn on centre stage, leaving the Englishman fighting for a regular spot.
The fans of Arsenal enjoy watching Theo at his best - and his speed on and off the ball is phenomenal. They also love the incredible skill the Mesut Ozil effortlessly produces. So who does Wenger choose? As each game approaches no one can call it for sure, but Walcott knows he has a lot of making up to do for his time out. Arsenal fans are sure to witness a battle for match time - and one they will admire.
