Can Arsenal do it? Can they finally win the title? It’s simple really. Yes, yes they can. Why you ask? Well, lets start from the top, literally.
Striker Olivier Giroud offers serious presence and physicality to this Arsenal side, something that Arsene Wenger recently stated as being almost extinct from the great game.
Giroud netted his ninth and 10th goals of the season against Southampton at the weekend and continues to grow in confidence. From this, the rest of the team grows. Between Giroud and Aaron Ramsey there have been 21 goals, a staggering number not even halfway through the season.
Further down the field we see players like Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, the fabulous Mesut Ozil, Mikel Arteta, Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini.
What a midfield. Is there one that rivals this in the Premier League? I’m not so sure. They continue to dazzle past the opposition and create countless chances for the attackers. Which reminds me, Theo Walcott is back. Watch out.
Now we move to the defensive side of this Arsenal machine, something that has been seen as its kryptonite for a fair while now.
That time is over. Laurent ‘the boss’ Koscielny and Per ‘the big German’ Mertesacker have it all covered. Kieran Gibbs is having the best season of his life, along with Bacary Sagna, who has also been outstanding.
Lastly, the goalkeeper. The one who we all thought would have his place questioned during the course of the season. Wojciech Szczęsny has been brilliant so far this season, making a number of crucial saves.
With the likes of Lukas Podolski and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to return, Tomas Rosicky and the efficient Nacho Monreal on the bench and the exciting Serge Gnabry, this team has it all except one thing - a backup to Giroud.
When that problem is resolved in January, and it will be, this team will push hard for the one trophy it so desperately wants and needs.
