There is a fierce rivalry between these two teams and there has been for many years. With both teams starting off the season well with Liverpool sitting in second place and Everton in 6th, this looks to be a cracker of a team.

Formation: 4-1-2-1-2

Goalkeeper - Simon Mignolet

This is one of the easy decisions for the making of this team. With Mignolet getting plaudits from around the world and being hailed as potentially the best goalkeeper in the league.

Left-Back - Leighton Baines

After finally getting his chance for England he has become a regular. Everton fans have been saying for years that Baines should be the first choice left-back for England and I think they may have had a point. Baines is the best left-back in the league at the moment.

Centre-Back - Mamadou Sakho

Having just taken France to the World Cup with a double, I don't think I could leave the terrorizing defender out of the team.

Centre-Back - Phil Jagielka

The English defender has been playing well for country and club this season and is a shining light in Everton's defence.

Right-Back - Seamus Coleman

This may be a surprise inclusion to many as Glen Johnson may be the more favorable choice but I could not leave Coleman out of the squad after the amazing form he has been in this season. He provides cover in defence and the power going forward to help create goals and set them up.

Centre-Defensive-Midfielder - Steven Gerrard

There was no other choice other than Steven Gerrard. Many people think he's past it, put he has proved for these last few seasons that he still has the talents and ability to play football at the highest levels.

Left Midfielder - Philippe Coutinho

An absolute bargain for £8.5million. The prowess on the ball that Coutinho has to just weave with ease past defenders is phenomenal.

Right Midfielder - Ross Barkley

Barkley has come from nowhere. He always had such big expectations for being England's future, but the midfielder has grown as a player incredibly quickly in the last 24 months. Everton will need him to play out of his skin this season if they want to qualify for the Europa League.

Attacking Midfielder - Luiz Suarez

Although he does normally play in the striker role he is also well suited to Attacking Midfield. After coming back from the suspension Suarez has probably been the best player in the league and well and truly deserves this spot.

Striker - Romelu Lukaku

A fantastic loan signing from Everton and Chelsea will definitely miss him, goals galore since joining Everton.

Striker - Daniel Sturridge

England will be reliant on Sturridge during the World Cup to produce goals like he has been doing for Liverpool. Fantastic signing from Chelsea.
