Basel v Chelsea: predicted line-ups & score

Chelsea have the chance to claim a spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League when they take on Basel in Switzerland this evening.

Basel shocked the Blues when they claimed a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge - the first time they had lost at home in the Champions League since the defeat against Beşiktaş back in 2003.

However since then, boss Jose Mourinho has guided Chelsea to three straight wins in Europe which has put them in command of Group E with two games to go.

A draw will be enough for the west London-based side to secure their passage to the next round, while if they win and results elsewhere go their way, then top spot and a favourable draw can be secured.

They travelled to Switzerland yesterday without David Luiz, who has a bruised patella, while Ashley Cole was named as part of the squad but is still struggling with a rib complaint.

Fernando Torres was was also part of the travelling party having not featured for the Blues since the start of the month. Frank Lampard, a two-goal hero against West Ham on Saturday, may be rested after his exertions at Upton Park.

Chelsea predicted line up: Petr Cech, Cesar Azpilicueta, Branisav Ivanovic,Gary Cahill, John Terry, Ramires, John Obi-Mikel, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle, Samuel Eto

Predicted score: Basel 0-3 Chelsea

Venue: St. Jakob-Park

KO: 19:45 (UK)

Referee: Stéphane LAnnoy
