Manchester United failed to build on their victory over Arsenal a couple of weeks ago as they drew 2-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday, but what went wrong for David Moyes' side?

Let's take a look:

1. Central-midfield

The pairing of Marouane Fellaini and Tom Cleverley in central midfield didn't have the expected impact on the game. Fellaini had one of his best outings in a united shirt, but the same cannot be said about Cleverley.

He added no dynamics to the midfield and often gave the ball away. With Michael Carrick set to miss six weeks of action with his injuries, it remains to be seen whether the midfield can drastically improve. With a key clash coming next week against Tottenham, David Moyes will be one worried Manager.

2. Depth In attack

United, with Van Persie, looks different from the one without him, and it was evident against Cardiff. Chicharito, with all his ability and potential, isn't close to the class that Robin Van Persie brings to the table. With his ability to score from both open play and his wicked headers from corners, Robin Van Persie was missed by both the fans and the manager.

Danny Welbeck had a clear shot on goal but lashed it over the cross-bar, imagine the same chance but with Van Persie, it would have resulted in United finishing the game off.

3. Team selection

Picking Adnan Januzaj over Nani.  Nani isn't the favouite choice at the moment, but he would have done a better job at getting the ball out of their own half. It was a learning curve for the 18-year-old, he tried dribbling the ball out of his own-half instead of thumping the ball clear. His antics provided Cardiff to keep mounting the pressure.

Januzaj also didn't create much impact on the attacking part of the game, he went for one touch too many, and could have fed the likes of Rooney and Hernandez instead of trying to take on Cardiff's defensive line on his own.

4. Injury crisis

United are hit with an injury crisis at the wrong moment of time. They were building quite some momentum but are now looking at a number of key players with niggling injuries and few players with extensive injuries. With anymore injuries to the back-line, Valencia would be pushed into the right-back's role, that is how concerning injuries are to United at the moment.

Moyes' team needs to improve their performance radically and quickly, with Christmas coming up, United will be playing a lot of games. United need to sort out their injury crisis, improve their performance in central midfield and they need to keep Robin van Persie fit.
