Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been ruled out of his side's Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Van Persie missed Manchester United's disappointing 2-2 draw with Cardiff City at the weekend due to a groin injury.
David Moyes said after Sunday's match at the Cardiff City Stadium that he hoped Van Persie would be in contention to play in their all-important European encounter against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.
However Moyes' hopes have been dashed as Van Persie has not flown to Germany with the rest of the squad.
Van Persie, who has scored eight goals in 13 games for the Red Devils this season, will instead remain in Manchester to work on his fitness ahead of his side's Premier League encounter against Tottenham on Sunday.
Manchester United boss Moyes is likely to hand Javier Hernandez or Danny Welbeck a start in Van Persie's absence.
