Manchester United forward Will Keane is close to completing a loan move to Championship side Wigan Athletic, reports talkSPORT.

Latics boss Owen Coyle revealed at the end of last week that he had reached a verbal agreement with Manchester United that would see Keane move to the DW Stadium on loan.

However the move hit a snag as Keane picked up a minor injury while training with Gareth Southgate's England Under-21 side.

The knock came just as Keane returned to training following a 16-month lay off due to a serious knee injury.

Coyle, however, remains keen on completing a deal for the 20-year-old.

The Wigan boss, speaking on Keane, said: "I'll be surprised if that isn't concluded in the next day or two. The paperwork is there it's just to be signed."

Keane will join fellow Manchester United youngster Nick Powell at last season's FA Cup winners when he eventually completes his loan move to the Championship outfit.

The Manchester United starlet, who made his Red Devils debut back in December 2011, could go straight into Coyle's squad to play Derby on Sunday.
