Arsenal close to signing Real Betis winger

Arsenal are so close to signing Alvaro Vadillo from Real Betis that the teenage winger has 'one foot' in the Emirates Stadium door, it has been claimed in Spain.

Vadillo is a Spain under-20 international who has made 13 appearances for Betis this season, his second in the first-team, during which time he has found the net on one occasion, which came against Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa League.

The 19-year-old, if we are to believe infamous transfer tittle tattle show Punto Pelota, will complete a move to Arsenal in the January window, with Arsene Wenger set to sign the player for a fee of €20 million.

Pipi Estrada, a journalist on the TV programme, claims that Vadillo has 'one foot in Arsenal' and all that remains are the formalities ahead of the player's switch to north London in the New Year.

Whether or not there is any truth in these latest claims from Estrada remains to be seen but, regardless of this, Arsenal will certainly be active during the next transfer period.

The acquisition of another striker to support Olivier Giroud would appear to be the most important task for the Premier League leaders, given that current deputy Nicklas Bendtner is likely to leave at the next available opportunity.

Giroud has been something of a goalscoring revelation for the Gunners this season, finding the net eight times in the league, and the club will be in something of a quandary were he to get injured.
