Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he will attempt to bring in new reinforcements to ease the club's defensive problems.
This comes after left-back Jose Enrique was ruled out until February following surgery on a knee problem, which has restricted the Spaniard to making just six appearances for the club all season.
With only Aly Cissokho on a season-long loan from Valencia and promising youngster Jon Flanagan available to fill Enrique's position, the former Swansea manager is keen to bring in another defender as he eyes a top four finish.
"It is certainly something that if Jose is going to be out for a long time we would have to look at I am sure," he told reporters.
"We think Jose will be a few months. It is not a long term one but will be the new year for sure.
"It is not ideal; you would prefer two in there to really be challenging. Jose is clearly one of the best left-backs in the league and to have him out is a blow."
It has already been understood that Rodgers is lining up a move to prise Chico Flores away from his old club Swansea, as well as also lining up a bid for Hamburg's Dennis Aogo who is available for just £5million if the deal falls through.
