Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed this afternoon that Kieran Gibbs has recovered from illness to feature in his squad for this weekend's trip to Cardiff City.

Gibbs missed Tuesday's Champions League clash with Marseille as a precaution after picking up a virus, with Nacho Monreal filing in as the Gunners moved closer to qualification for the knockout stages with a 2-0 win.

Wenger revealed today that the England international has bounced back quickly and is contention for a recall in South Wales this Saturday.

He told the club's official website: "Kieran Gibbs was sick but he has already recovered yesterday. He is now back in the squad.

'We have no injuries. Of course we have some little concerns. People were a little bit rested like Mikel Arteta but they are all available now."

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a fine start to the campaign, largely steering clear of injury problems that have kept him out in recent seasons to nail down a regular starting spot.

The Gunners are slowly getting back to full strength after having a string of attacking options sidelined in the early months of the campaign, with Theo Walcott making his comeback from a stomach problem against Southampton last week.

Lukas Podolski is also on the mend and due to make a return in around three weeks, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Yaya Sanogo will be out until the New Year.
