3 players Manchester United should attempt to sign in January

Manchester United didn't improve their team over the summer transfer period. This has led to them having a poor start to the season.

The following three players that I have listed I believe would help Manchester United to step up a gear and push for the Premier League title. David Moyes should go out of his way to push for these three transfers.

1. Leighton Baines

I believe that Baines would help Manchester United when going forward and defensively. Although they already have the ever dependable Patrice Evra at left-back, he is nearing the end of his first class playing career, and rumours have persisted of him leaving the theatre of dreams.

Baines is a younger and perhaps better choice than Evra. His passing and crossing ability would allow for others to get into the game and help the team to create chances. Defensively he would add to what can only be described as a so far frail defensive performance from Manchester United so far this season. Improving them both going forward and defensively, Baines seems like a no brainer.

2. Ilkay Gundogan

Gundogan is another German youngster who has enough talent to be able to almost walk into many teams in world football. He is a player who is both strong in the tackle but also great at going forward and helping the team to tick. He is exactly what Manchester United need; a deep lying playmaker, who can also get stuck in and make the tackles that cut out the opposition.

He would possibly be expensive with other sides such as Barcelona looking to gain his signature, but he would be a very adept addition to their midfield, adding exactly what Manchester United are after.

3. Angel Di Maria

This season Manchester United have primarily used three wingers; Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Nani. The only one of the three who has recently earned himself a place in the side is Valencia. The other two have failed to cover themselves in glory and as a result, Manchester United have looked lacklustre on the wings, with the wingers failing to add too many goals or assists to their names.

The perfect player to help fix this problem would be Angel Di Maria. He is reportedly looking for a way out of the Santiago Bernabeu and this is due to the recent purchase of Gareth Bale. Old Trafford would be a perfect destination for Di Maria and would seemingly be a match made in heaven. The Argentine winger would add both goals and assists to Manchester United's team.
