Chelsea have entered the race to sign Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia, according to The Express.

The Inter Milan ace is unsettled at the club and isn't looking to sign a new deal with the Italian giants.

Premier League duo Manchester United and Tottenham have been tracking the 25-year-old for some time and now Jose Mourinho's Chelsea have entered the race for his signature.

However the Premier League duo may also have to come up against Italian giants, Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus as they are also all monitoring the defender.

Jose Mourinho is looking at his defensive options at Stamford Bridge as John Terry is coming towards the twilight years of his career and David Luiz is a constant liability when he gets his chance in the Chelsea side.

The Chelsea boss will now look towards the signing of Ranocchia as Mourinho looks to further improve his squad options.

But with Manchester United and Tottenham interested in the player's services, the Chelsea manager will have a battle on his hand if he's going to bring the star to the club.
