With an Autumn test coming up against Australia on the weekend, Warren Gatland has stated he pinched Alex Cuthbert and George North from England, according to the Daily Mail.

Alex Cuthbert is a winger who currently plays for Cardiff Blues but was born in Gloucester, while George North is also a winger playing for Northampton Saints. This makes both players eligible for England.

But Gatland prevented these two bright talents featuring for the England team, snapping them up before they had received the call-up. The 50-year-old coach stated that the duo are a great addition to the Welsh team.

"I picked Cuthbert and North, one because they are big, powerful athletes, and two because they were English qualified," he said.

"I couldn't just sit there and wait for these two dual-qualified athletes to be snapped up by England coach Stuart Lancaster."

Since playing for Wales, North has scored 65 points in his 34 caps for the Welsh nation, as the 21-year-old is powerful runner who impressed during the British Lions Tour.

While Cuthbert, has only played 18 times for the Welsh nation, scoring 45 points, with the 23-year-old making a name for himself in the Six Nations encounter against England, were he scored two tries to clinch the title.

Both Welsh internationals featured in the British Lions tour, and between them scored 15 points in the three matches against Australia.

Wales are in action this Saturday as they take on Australia at the Millennium Stadium, as the Wallabies have won the last eight encounters against the Red Dragons, and will be hoping to make it nine.

But Wales are unbeaten on home turf in their last two matches, winning three of their last five encounters at the Millennium Stadium, and Gatland will aim for a hat-trick of wins in this Autumn series.
