It's beggars belief that Manchester United will get Nemanja Matic for £20million, according to Sport Witness.
The publication, citing sources in Portugal including newspaper O Jogo, has highlighted that due to Benfica's notoriety for selling players for large amounts combined with his importance to the side, there's little chance of him being offered to the Premier League champions for less than half his release clause- which stands at €50million.
This comes on the back of speculation linking Matic with a United move in recent weeks- reinforced in particular by claims that Benfica would settle for £20million for their star midfielder.
However the Portuguese press have dismissed these rumours as having little credibility, especially since the Serbian has a number of other admirers, including Chelsea, Real Madrid and Monaco.
The 25-year-old is also contracted at his current club until 2018, meaning that United can't hope that Benfica will jump into a sale for fear of losing him for nothing when his contract runs out, and the fact that he has recently stated he is happy with the Portuguese giants also goes against the Red Devils.
