2: Paulo Maldini | AC Milan | 1985–2009

With an immensely long career spanning a remarkable 24 years, Maldini was a god of Italian football.

A one-club man who captained both AC Milan and Italy, he didn't retire until he had played 902 times in all competitions for the Serie A giants.

Maldini is a likely candidate in the full-back spot for most people's 'all-time world-XI's'.
