Lyon midfielder scores incredible disallowed goal

Lyon ensured they moved to the top of their Europa League group with a 1-0 victory against Real Betis, but things could have been far better for the Ligue 1 side had Yoann Gourcuff's strike been allowed to stand.

Substitute Bafétimbi Gomis scored the only goal of the game at the Stade de Gerland and Remi Garde's side now enjoy a one point cushion ahead of the opponents they narrowly dispatched of on Thursday evening.

It was Gomis who earned the plaudits but it was so nearly Gourcuff who stole the headlines, with the France international finding the net with quite possibly the best disallowed goal of all-time.

Gourcuff was seen to launch a half-volley from inside Lyon territory, with the ball flying over the head of a backtracking Stephan Anderson.

But, unfortunately for the midfielder, the referee blew his whistle for an earlier infringement, preventing one of the great goals.
