Liverpool face competition for Pastore signing

Liverpool face competition from European duo Roma and Lyon for the signing of Javier Pastore, reports talkSPORT.

The attacking-midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular starting place at French champions PSG so far this season and Brendan Rodgers' side have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old.

However, it now looks like the Reds will have to battle with Italian giants Roma and Ligue 1 outfit Lyon for the player's signature.

Sources in Italy have even suggested that Roma chiefs have already met with the Argentine international.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers may now have to step up in his pursuit of the star as he looks to bring him to Anfield.

The Liverpool chief could go back to PSG for the second time this year as he has already brought defender Mamadou Sakho to Anfield from the French outfit.

The Reds boss is desperate to achieve a top four finish with the club this season and the signing of Pastore would certainly hand Liverpool a boost in their bid for Champions League qualification.
