Manchester United need a source of inspiration and quickly.
Lacking creativity in midfield, the Red Devils have been forced to drop Wayne Rooney deeper and deeper to try and make up for their short fallings.
Ronaldinho, who has revitalised his best form in Brazil with Atlético Mineiro, would be the perfect stopgap as David Moyes searches for a new star.
Instead of signing someone young and expensive, Ronaldinho can be signed for next to nothing on a short term deal and not only provide excellent ability on the pitch, but also excellent guidance for young players on the training ground.
But Moyes seems keen on signing a big name like Cesc Fabregas or Thiago Alcantara, who tried to sign in the summer. He won't want a short term signing even if it is Ronaldinho - Moyes is building for the long term.
If Moyes manages to get a young playmaker in then great, but quality, young players rarely become available on the market.
Ronaldinho can be signed cheaply and won't need the long term contract a young player would demand. If it doesn't work out, no biggy - Manchester United would have easily made back the money invested in him in shirt sales alone.
